Dr. Maurer introduced “seed implant” therapy, known as “brachytherapy,” to this part of California. Since then, brachytherapy has become a standard method of treatment, delivering radiation doses very precisely to cancer cells in the prostate, which helps
patients maintain a good quality of life during and after treatment. Also, Dr. Thijssen is the only area urologist with fellowship training and credentials in reconstructive surgery.
